What is a POD®?

The POD® is a Long-Life Smart Home Energy Storage System with fast-charging EV capability that absorbs affordable energy during the day for later use.

Is the POD®safe?

The POD® is a Long-Life Smart Home Energy Storage System utilising safe and reliable sodium-ion battery technology. Unlike lithium-ion batteries, which are susceptible to thermal runaway, the POD® offers enhanced safety and stability.

How Does the POD® Work?

The POD® Smart energy system is powered by sodium-ion to capture electrons sustainably and releases them upon demand instantaneously. The POD® connects to local energy with a supply (solar or grid) through the switchboard and uses an inverter to regulate the charge and discharge.

POD® coupled with Solar

The POD® can be retrofitted to an existing solar system to harness the sun’s natural energy for later use. This way, POD® owners always have access to secure, clean, on-demand energy.

To ensure protection during power outages, we recommend that at a minimum a 13.6kWh single-phase or 13.6kWh three-phase of energy storage that can be retrofitted to accommodate from 6.6kW of solar PV.

POD® with the Grid

When a POD® is installed with no accompanying solar system, it can charge from the grid when prices are low to protect against peak tariff fees. This POD® configuration still provides blackout protection as well as recharge from the grid during off-peak periods.

POD® Off - Grid

The POD® off-grid battery storage system works by capturing and storing energy from a renewable source, such as solar panels, for later use.

During the day, the solar panels generate electricity, which is converted to AC power used to power a home or business.
When the sun isn’t shining—such as at night or on cloudy days—the battery then becomes the primary power source, completely independent of the main electrical grid. 

POD® within a Virtual Power Plant

The POD® uses advanced smart software to network with other POD®s to function as a single power plant, optimising energy production and consumption, enhancing grid stability and integrating renewables efficiently. Being part of a VPP allows you to earn money from your POD®.
